Showing GST on a quotation
Buyers registered under GST compare the taxable value, so show prices before tax with CGST and SGST or IGST worked out below. Set your state and the buyer place of supply so the split matches the tax invoice that will follow.
Terms buyers expect
State the validity, delivery period, freight, installation and payment terms. Purchase teams often reject quotations that leave freight or installation unclear. Larger buyers may also ask for your GSTIN and bank details on the quotation, so keep them in your saved business details.
Questions
Is a quotation a tax document under GST?
No. A quotation is an offer. GST is charged on the tax invoice issued when the supply happens, which is why the quotation is marked as not an invoice.
Can I send the quotation on WhatsApp?
Yes. Download the PDF and share it from your phone. The file is created on your device, so it works without uploading anything.
How do I convert an accepted quotation into an invoice?
Open it, change the document type to invoice and the number to your next invoice number, update the date, and download. Items, customer and GST details carry over.
