Terms of use

Last updated . These terms apply to Toolspike and every tool published on it.

Acceptance

These terms apply to your use of this website and the tools published on it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Accounts are optional, because the free daily run of every tool works without one, so for most visitors the relationship is narrow: you open a page, it changes a file on your own device, and that is the whole of it. If you do create an account, the section on accounts below applies to you as well.

The service

The browser tools run inside your browser: files you open with them are read, transformed and returned locally, and their contents are not uploaded to or stored by us. The AI, OCR and translation tools send your input to an external provider, as each of those pages states. This is described in more detail in the privacy policy.

Each tool can be used once a day for free, without an account, and the EMI and simple interest calculators as often as you like. Further runs cost 2 credits each. A free account receives 2 bonus credits once and a small allowance of credits each day; beyond that, credits can be bought. The pricing page always shows the current allowances and prices, and credits you have already bought keep their value if they change.

Free trials and free credits are for ordinary personal use. Free trials are also capped each day per network and, for the AI tools, across the whole site, so on a busy day a free trial may be unavailable until the next reset. Obtaining more of them by automated means, or by repeatedly clearing cookies or switching networks, is not permitted, and we may refuse free trials to traffic that does so.

Payment and Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record for every purchase. When you buy credits, your contract for that purchase is with Paddle rather than with us, and Paddle handles payment, invoicing, sales tax and VAT.

By completing a purchase you also accept Paddle’s own terms and privacy policy. Card details are entered on Paddle and never reach us.

Credit packs are one-time purchases, not subscriptions: nothing renews automatically. Credits are valid for 30 days from purchase, and buying again extends the expiry on your whole remaining balance. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.

Refunds are governed by our refund policy and administered through Paddle.

Accounts

You may create an account, but you do not need one for the free daily run of any tool. Sign-in is operated for us by Clerk; you can register with an email address and password, or with a Google account.

You must give accurate registration details, keep your credentials to yourself, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

Accounts are for adults. If you are under 18, do not create one without the consent of a parent or guardian.

You can delete your account yourself at any time from the account page, which removes the identity record held for you. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to breach the acceptable-use section below, or where we are required to do so by law.

The tools may change

Tools may be added, altered, renamed or withdrawn at any time, and the site may be unavailable during maintenance or because of a problem with the hosting provider. No level of availability is promised.

Because nothing is stored on our side, a tool being withdrawn does not put any of your data at risk. It does mean a link may stop working, so please do not build a process that depends on a particular page remaining available.

Anything described on this site as planned is a statement of intent, not a commitment. Planned features may be changed or abandoned without notice.

Your files and your rights in them

You keep all rights in the files you process. We claim no licence over them, which is straightforward, because for the browser tools we never receive them.

You are responsible for the files you use these tools on. By using the site you confirm that you own the necessary rights, or have permission from whoever does, to process and modify each file, and that doing so does not breach anybody else’s rights or any obligation of confidence you are under.

You are also responsible for checking the output. Conversions and compression can change how a document looks or behaves, so verify the result before relying on it, and keep your original. We cannot recover a file for you, because we never had a copy.

Acceptable use

When using this site, you agree not to:

  • use it to process content that is unlawful, or to help carry out anything unlawful;
  • use it to infringe copyright, trade marks, privacy or confidentiality obligations;
  • attempt to disrupt the service, for example by overloading it, interfering with other people’s use of it, or probing, scanning or testing its infrastructure without permission;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, its hosting or any connected system;
  • introduce malicious code, or misrepresent the site as your own or as endorsed by you;
  • remove or obscure any notice of ownership in material published here.

Provided as-is, without warranty

The site and the tools are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all warranties, conditions and terms implied by statute or common law are excluded.

In particular, no warranty is given that a tool will be free from errors, that it will be available or uninterrupted, that it will handle any specific file correctly, or that its output will be fit for any particular purpose. Output should be treated as a draft to be checked, not as a verified result.

Nothing on this site is professional advice, including anything written in the notes section.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site. That includes loss of or damage to data, corrupted or incorrect output, lost profits, lost business or wasted expenditure, whether the claim is brought in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise.

Because the tools process your files locally, the practical safeguard is in your hands: keep the original file, and check the output before you use it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case those exclusions apply only as far as the law allows.

Intellectual property

The Toolspike name, the site design and the written content published here belong to their owner and may not be copied wholesale or presented as your own. Quoting a passage with attribution is fine.

The tools are built on third-party open-source libraries, which remain subject to their own licences. Those licences govern the libraries themselves and are not affected by these terms.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised as the site changes. The revised version applies from the moment it is published, and the date at the top of this page will be updated to match. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to your use of this site is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pune, Maharashtra, India.

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Nothing here removes any statutory right you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
