Flat rate or hourly

Mounting a TV or hanging a door is often quoted as a flat job, while troubleshooting is billed by the hour. Use a quantity of 1 and a unit of "job" for flat work, and hours for the rest. Both land in the labor subtotal.

Getting paid on the spot

Most handyman invoices are due on receipt. Put your payment options in the payment details box, such as a card link or bank transfer details, and print or send the PDF before you leave.

Questions

Should I charge a trip fee?

Many handymen charge a minimum or trip fee for short visits. Add it as a labor line with a clear description, such as "Service call, first half hour", so the customer understands the charge.

Do I need a license to invoice handyman work?

Rules vary by state and by job size. Some states require a contractor license above a dollar threshold or for electrical and plumbing work. Check your state board before invoicing work that needs one.

Can I reuse the invoice for a repeat customer?

Save the customer once and pick them from the saved customers list next time. Use "Next number" after downloading to start a fresh invoice with your details and the next invoice number filled in.
