Seasonal and monthly billing
For regular mowing, bill the month in arrears with the number of visits as the quantity and the dates in the service dates field. One-off work such as spring clean-ups or mulching is clearer on its own invoice.
Materials by the unit
Mulch and soil are usually sold by the cubic yard and plants by the piece. Enter the unit on each line so the customer sees "3 cu yd" rather than a bare number.
Questions
Should lawn care invoices include sales tax?
Some states tax landscaping services or materials and others do not. Enter the rate that applies where the property is, and untick taxable on any line your state exempts.
How do I invoice snow removal in winter?
Use the same template with per-visit or per-push lines and the dates in the service dates field. Save the customer so the winter invoices use the same details as the summer ones.
Can I add a fuel surcharge?
Yes. Add it as a separate line in the services group with a clear description. Customers accept surcharges more readily when they are shown than when they are folded into the visit price.
