Hourly moves and travel time

Local moves are usually billed by the hour for the crew and truck, plus travel time between your yard and the first address. Put them on separate lines so the customer can check the hours against the times on the bill of lading.

Interstate moves in the US

Federal rules for interstate household goods moves (49 CFR part 375) set out what the estimate, order for service and bill of lading must contain. This invoice does not replace those documents; it references them by number.

Questions

What is valuation coverage?

It is the mover liability level the customer chose, such as released value or full value protection. Recording it on the invoice avoids arguments later about what a damaged item is worth.

Should packing materials be itemised?

Yes. Boxes, tape, mattress bags and wardrobe cartons are easy to count and easy to dispute when lumped together. List them by type with a quantity and unit price.

Can I bill a deposit before the move?

Yes. Issue a deposit invoice when the date is booked, then enter the deposit in the amount paid box on the final invoice so only the balance is due on delivery.
