Translate text between languages, with control over register

Translation is the one place where getting the tone wrong costs as much as getting the words wrong. This tool translates up to 5,000 characters between well over a hundred languages with automatic source detection, and adds an optional tone so the result reads as professional, casual, formal or concise rather than merely correct.

Your text is sent to an external provider to be translated, and is never logged by us. Where a tone has been applied, the page states that the wording is a rewrite and no longer a faithful translation — a distinction most tools leave you to discover for yourself.

Which Translation tool do you need?

A faithful translation

Use the Standard tone. It translates without rewriting, which is what you want whenever accuracy matters more than style.

Correspondence that needs a register

Professional, formal and concise presets rewrite the result for tone, which suits business correspondence.

Text you do not recognise

Leave the source on detect and the provider identifies the language before translating it.

Right-to-left scripts

Arabic, Hebrew and Persian are handled with the correct writing direction rather than displayed backwards.

Text trapped in a picture

Run Handwriting to Text first to get editable text, then translate it.

Questions about Translation tools

Is my text sent to a provider?

Yes. The text and the language pair are sent to an external translation provider. The source text, the translation and the detected language are never logged by us.

What is the difference between Standard and the other tones?

Standard is a straight translation. Every other tone asks for a rewrite in a style, which changes the wording and is no longer faithful. The result is labelled when this has happened, so you always know which you have.

How much text can I translate at once?

Up to 5,000 characters per request, with a live character count. Split a longer document at paragraph boundaries so each part keeps enough context to translate well.

Is this good enough for official documents?

Treat it as a strong draft. For anything legal, medical or contractual, have the result checked by a fluent speaker before it is used.

Does it handle right-to-left languages properly?

Yes. Arabic, Hebrew and Persian are displayed with the correct writing direction rather than reversed, and over a hundred locales are available with their direction handled.
