Why a signature needs to be 30 KB

Thirty KB is a lot for a signature, so a tiny image will not reach it. The preset starts at 420 x 180 pixels, three times the minimum, and grows it if needed, with 200 DPI written into the file.

Writing style RRB asks for

Sign in black ink on white paper, in joined-up handwriting rather than block or capital letters. The photograph is captured live, so only the signature is uploaded.

Questions

What if my RRB signature is under 30 KB?

The tool raises quality and then enlarges the image, which the "at least 140 x 60 pixels" rule allows, until it passes 30 KB. It never pads the file with meaningless data.

Why is the maximum 49 KB and not 50?

The notice itself sets the range as 30 to 49 KB. The tool keeps the file at or below 49,000 bytes so it passes however the portal counts a kilobyte.

Do I upload a photo for RRB CEN 05/2026?

No. The notice says the photograph is captured live, and re-photographing an old photo can lead to rejection.
