Does the AI make things up?
It is told to use only facts from your resume and to leave placeholders such as [number] where a figure would help. Read the draft before you send it, because AI can still get a detail wrong.
Can I write the letter without AI?
Yes. Type the letter text yourself and download it as PDF, Word or text. Only the draft button sends anything online, and only when you press it.
Will the letter sound like it was written by AI?
It can, which is why the draft is only a starting point. Change the opening line to something only you would say, add one specific reason you want this job, and cut anything that sounds generic before you send it.
What information is sent to the AI?
Your headline, summary, roles, achievement lines, skills and education, the job ad, and the company, job title and hiring manager’s name you typed. Your own name, email, phone, town and links are not sent; they are added to the letter on the page.
How long should a cover letter be?
Most employers expect less than a page. The short option drafts about 180 words in three paragraphs and the standard option about 300 words in four, which leaves room for the greeting and your signature on one page.
Who do I address it to if I do not know the name?
Leave the hiring manager’s name empty and the greeting becomes "Dear Hiring Manager,". You can also type a greeting of your own, such as the name of the team, in the greeting box.
Does it cost anything?
