Resume & Cover Letter Builder

Write your resume in a guided form, choose one of four single-column templates and download PDF, Word, text or a JSON backup. Check it against a job ad in your browser, and use AI to tailor it or draft a cover letter only when you ask.

Builds in your browser; AI actions send your text online only when you press them

Free trial: 1 run of Resume & Cover Letter Builder every day. After that, 2 credits per run. Only the AI actions count as runs; building, checking and downloading are free.

Write your resume once, then shape it for each job you apply for

Fill in your details, experience, education and skills, and the preview beside the form shows the page as you type. Four single-column templates set the type and spacing without changing the words, so you can switch between them at any time. The PDF has real, selectable text in reading order, the Word file stays editable, and the text file is ready to paste into a job site.

The resume is built and saved in this browser, and the job match tab compares it with a job ad on your device. The three AI buttons are the only part that goes online, and they send the job content of the resume, not your name, email, phone, town or links.

Only need the letter? Open the Cover Letter Generator.

What Resume & Cover Letter Builder gives you

Sections you can arrange

Experience, education, skills, projects, certifications, awards, languages, volunteering and headings of your own. Rename, reorder or hide any section, and move entries up and down.

Four ways to download

PDF on A4 or US Letter, an editable Word file, plain text for application forms, and a JSON backup you can import later to carry on where you stopped.

A job-ad check that stays honest

Paste a job ad to see which of its recurring terms appear in your resume, with the missing ones marked add only if true, plus readability checks on dates, numbers in achievements and first-person words.

AI that waits for your yes

Tailor the resume to a job, rewrite the achievement lines of one role, or draft a cover letter. Every suggestion sits next to your own line and changes nothing until you accept it.

How to use Resume & Cover Letter Builder

  1. Fill in or import

Type your details into the Resume tab, or open Import and save to read a JSON backup, a PDF with text, a Word file or pasted text.

  2. Check it against the job

Paste the job ad in the Job match tab, work through the readability notes and, if you want, ask the AI for suggestions.

  3. Pick a template and download

Choose a template and paper size beside the preview, then download the PDF, the Word file or the text.

Limitations

  • PDF import reads PDFs that contain text; a scan or photo of a resume is not read, so paste its text instead.
  • The PDF font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters; other scripts and emoji are replaced in the PDF but kept in the Word file.
  • The job-ad check measures keyword overlap and readability; it cannot predict whether an employer will shortlist you.
  • AI suggestions can be wrong, so every change waits for you to accept it.
  • Drafts and saved versions stay in this browser only; clearing site data deletes them, so download a JSON backup.

Questions about Resume & Cover Letter Builder

Is my resume sent anywhere?

Not while you build it. The form, the preview, the job-ad check and the PDF, Word and text files are made in your browser, and the draft is kept in this browser. Text is sent only when you press an AI button, and then only the job content, never your name, email, phone, town or links.

Which AI actions are there?

Tailor to a job ad, rewrite the achievement lines of one role, and draft a cover letter. Each counts as a run of this tool, like the other AI tools here; building, checking and downloading do not.

What does ATS-friendly mean here?

Applicant tracking systems read a resume as text. All four templates use one column, standard headings and real text in reading order, with no tables, text boxes or images, which is the layout these systems read most reliably. The tool cannot test your file against a particular employer’s system.

Can I import my old resume?

Yes. A JSON backup from this tool or a JSON Resume file is read field by field. A PDF with selectable text, a Word .docx file or pasted text is read line by line, so check every field afterwards: a job title can land in the employer box. Scanned PDFs have no text to read.

What does the AI see?

Only what the button needs: your headline, summary, roles, achievement lines, skills, education and the job ad, plus the company and hiring manager for a cover letter. Your name, email, phone, town and links stay in the page. The AI is told to use only facts from your resume and to leave placeholders such as [number] instead of inventing figures.

Is there a watermark or a download cap?

No watermark is added to any file. Building, checking and downloading do not count as runs, so you can download as often as you need; only the AI buttons use the free run of the day and then credits.

Where is my resume saved?

In this browser’s local storage, on this device only, and it is saved as you type. Save named versions for different jobs in the Import and save tab, and download the JSON backup before clearing browser data or switching devices.

Why do some characters look wrong in the PDF?

The PDF font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters. Other scripts and emoji are replaced, and the page lists them after the download. The Word file uses the fonts on your computer, so it keeps them.
