Rotate PDF

Rotate all pages, a selection, or only the odd or even pages. Existing page rotation is composed correctly rather than overwritten.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Free trial: 1 run of Rotate PDF every day. After that, 2 credits per run.

Turn pages the right way up, all of them or only the ones you pick

Scanners and phone cameras routinely produce PDFs with sideways or upside-down pages. Rotate them back across the whole document or on a selection such as every even page — the usual fix for a duplex scan fed the wrong way. Rotation is a page property rather than a change to pixels, so nothing is re-rendered and no quality is lost.

What Rotate PDF gives you

Odd and even selections

Rotate only the odd or even pages — the one-click fix for alternate sheets that came out inverted.

Rotate a typed range

Enter pages such as 4-9, 12. Everything outside the selection keeps its current orientation.

Adds to existing rotation

Your angle is applied on top of any rotation a page already carries, rather than resetting it.

No loss of quality

Text stays selectable and images are never recompressed, because the file is not re-rendered.

Entirely local

The document is read and rewritten in your browser — useful when the sideways scan is a contract.

How to use Rotate PDF

  1. Add the PDF

Its page count is read so any range can be checked.

  2. Choose the angle

90 or 270 degrees for a quarter-turn, 180 for a page that is upside down.

  3. Choose which pages

All pages, a typed range, or the odd or even pages only.

  4. Rotate and download

Your original file is left unchanged.

Questions about Rotate PDF

Does it add to existing rotation?

Yes. If a page is already rotated 90 degrees and you add 90, the result is 180, not 90.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes — all pages, a page range, or only odd or even pages.

How do I permanently rotate a PDF so it opens the right way up?

Rotate it here and download the result. The angle is written into the page itself, so every reader displays it correctly — unlike the temporary rotate button in a PDF viewer, which usually forgets the change when the file is closed.

Every second page of my scan is upside down. What do I do?

Use the odd or even selection with a 180 degree turn. That is the standard result of a duplex scanner feeding the reverse side the wrong way, and it takes one pass rather than fixing pages individually. Try even pages first.

Which angle do I need?

Look at which way the top of the text points. Use 180 for a page that is upside down, and 90 or 270 for one lying on its side — if the first quarter-turn goes the wrong way, run it again with the other.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Rotation is recorded as a property of the page rather than a change to its pixels, so nothing is re-rendered, text stays selectable and images are never recompressed. It is instant even on a long document.

Can it straighten a scan that is slightly crooked?

No. Only quarter-turns are available, so a page a few degrees off from a bad paper feed cannot be levelled here. That needs a deskew function in an image editor.

Should I rotate before or after numbering a document?

Before. Page numbers and watermarks are placed relative to the page as displayed, so fixing orientation first stops a number landing on what turns out to be the wrong edge.
