JSON to Excel
Turn an array of JSON objects into a genuine XLSX workbook, using the union of all keys as the header row, with correct cell types.
Runs in your browser — nothing is uploadedFree trial: 1 run of JSON to Excel every day. After that, 2 credits per run.
Write a JSON array into a genuine .xlsx workbook
Paste an array of objects and download a real XLSX file that Excel, LibreOffice and Numbers open natively — not a CSV with the wrong extension. Columns are the union of every key in first-seen order, nested values are written as JSON text, and you can name the worksheet. The first ten rows are previewed before you commit.
What JSON to Excel gives you
Real XLSX output
A genuine Office Open XML workbook, so there is no import dialogue or delimiter warning to negotiate.
Named worksheet
Set the sheet name up to Excel's 31-character limit instead of accepting a default.
Union of all keys
Every field across every row becomes a column, in the order first encountered.
Preview before download
The first ten rows are shown so you can check the columns landed as expected.
Built in your browser
The workbook is assembled on your device, so the data is not uploaded to be converted.

Questions about JSON to Excel
Is it a real Excel file?
Yes. The output is a genuine XLSX workbook that Excel, LibreOffice, Numbers and Google Sheets open natively.
What happens to nested values?
Nested objects are flattened to dotted columns and arrays are stringified, so nothing silently becomes a blank cell.
Is this a real Excel file or a renamed CSV?
A real one. The output is genuine Office Open XML, so Excel, LibreOffice and Numbers open it directly with no import dialogue and no delimiter warning to negotiate.
How do I convert JSON to an .xlsx spreadsheet?
Paste an array of objects, name the worksheet, check the ten-row preview, and download. The workbook is assembled on your device, so query results and customer data are not uploaded anywhere.
What happens to nested objects and arrays?
They are written as JSON text inside a single cell, because a spreadsheet cell holds a value rather than a structure. Flatten deeply nested data before converting if you want those fields in columns of their own.
Why was my worksheet name shortened?
Excel imposes a 31-character limit on sheet names, so anything longer is trimmed to fit. That is the application's own constraint rather than a choice made here.
A column is missing from my output. Why?
Check for an inconsistent key name across records — a field spelled differently in some rows produces separate columns or appears sparse. The ten-row preview is there to catch exactly this before you download.
Do the cells contain working formulas?
No. Values are written as values. And because leading =, + and @ characters are not escaped, review any untrusted data before sharing the file, since a spreadsheet may treat such cells as formulas.
