Image to Word
Convert JPG, PNG and HEIC photos, scans and PDF pages into an editable Word document. AI reads the text, tables and equations; you check it, then download.
Uploads your file to be processed onlineFree trial: 1 run a day across the online tools, no account needed. After that, 2 credits per run. Each page or image counts as one run.
Turn photos, scans and screenshots into a Word document you can edit
Add photos of printed pages, scans, screenshots or PDF pages, and an AI service reads each one into text with its structure: headings, paragraphs, bulleted and numbered lists, tables and mathematical formulas. You check and correct the text on the page, and then download a Word document built from it.
Formulas come out as native Word equations rather than pictures, and tables as Word tables, so the document can be edited and reused. Each page picture is sent to the AI service to be read; PDF and TIFF files are turned into page pictures on your device first.
What Image to Word gives you
Structure, not just text
Headings, lists and tables are recognised as such, so the Word file has heading styles, real list numbering and table cells instead of one long run of text.
Equations stay editable
Formulas on printed or handwritten pages are read as LaTeX and written into Word as Office Math, which you can click into and change.
Correct before you download
The recognised text sits in an editable box beside a live preview, and the Word file is built from whatever the box holds.
Many pages at once
Up to ten files per run and thirty pages per PDF, with progress, a cancel button, and a failed page reported without losing the others.
Paste a screenshot
Press Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac) with a screenshot on the clipboard and it is added like a file. PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, HEIC photos from an iPhone and multipage TIFF scans are accepted as well as PDFs.

Questions about Image to Word
Are my images uploaded?
Yes. Each page picture is sent to an AI service to be read, which is why this tool needs an explicit click. PDFs are turned into page pictures on your device first, so the PDF file itself is not sent.
Can I fix mistakes before downloading?
Yes. The recognised text appears in an editable box with a live preview, and the Word file is built from that box, so every correction you make ends up in the document.
How accurate is the recognition?
Accuracy depends on image quality, layout and handwriting, and it has not been independently measured, so no figure is claimed. Clear, flat, well-lit pages read best. Compare the text with your original before using the document.
Does it read handwriting?
Yes. Neat handwriting usually reads well, including handwritten maths, but untidy writing produces more errors. For notes in a language other than English, the Handwriting to Text tool lets you choose the language and script.
Will the layout look exactly like the original?
No. The tool rebuilds the content and its structure, not the page design: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and equations are kept, while fonts, colours, columns and exact positions are not. Photos and drawings are marked [image] rather than copied.
How are tables handled?
Tables are read row by row with a header row, and they become real Word tables with one cell per value. Check merged cells and totals carefully, since those are the parts most likely to need fixing.
How much does it cost?
Each page or image counts as one run of the tool, and what a run costs is shown above the tool before you start. Correcting the text and downloading the Word file afterwards cost nothing extra.
What happens to my images?
Each page picture is sent to the AI service to be read and is not stored by this site. The recognised text comes back to your browser, where the Word file is made, and PDF and TIFF files are split into page pictures on your device first.
Can I turn a JPG into an editable Word document?
Yes. Add the JPG, or a PNG, an iPhone HEIC photo or a scanned PDF, press Read and check the recognised text. The download is an ordinary .docx whose text, tables and equations can all be edited, not a picture placed on a page.
Can I convert a photo on my phone to Word?
Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, add the photo from your gallery or files and press Read. iPhone HEIC photos are accepted as they are, and the .docx is saved to your phone, where the Word or Google Docs app can open it.
