Image Resizer

Set an exact width and height in pixels, with an optional aspect-ratio lock.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Free trial: 1 run of Image Resizer every day. After that, 2 credits per run.

Set exact pixel dimensions, with the aspect ratio locked or free

Type a width and height in pixels, anywhere from 1 to 12,000. The aspect ratio is locked by default, so changing one dimension updates the other and nothing is stretched by accident. Unlock it when you genuinely need a fixed size. The resize runs on your device using the browser canvas with high-quality smoothing.

What Image Resizer gives you

Aspect ratio locked by default

Edit the width and the height follows. Distortion has to be chosen deliberately rather than happening by mistake.

Exact pixel control

Both dimensions accept any value from 1 to 12,000 px, so you can hit a specification precisely.

Warns before you enlarge

Ask for more pixels than the original has and you are told plainly that they will be invented by interpolation.

High-quality scaling

Smoothing is enabled at the highest setting the browser offers, which matters most when scaling down sharply.

Keeps the source format

Output is JPEG, PNG or WebP to match what you put in.

How to use Image Resizer

  1. Add an image

Up to 50 MB. The natural dimensions are filled in for you.

  2. Enter the size you need

Type a width or a height; with the ratio locked, the other follows automatically.

  3. Resize and download

Your original file is left exactly as it was.

Questions about Image Resizer

Does enlarging recover detail?

No. Scaling up interpolates between existing pixels and cannot recover detail that was never captured.

What does the aspect lock do?

With the lock on, editing width recalculates height so the image is never stretched.

How do I resize an image to exact pixel dimensions?

Type the width and height you need, anywhere from 1 to 12,000 pixels. With the ratio locked, entering one dimension fills in the other automatically; unlock it only when a platform demands an exact box and you accept the distortion.

Can I enlarge a small image without losing quality?

No tool can, and any that claims to is interpolating. Scaling up fills the gaps by averaging between the pixels that already exist — it cannot recover detail that was never captured. You are warned before enlarging so the result is not a surprise.

Why does my image look soft after resizing?

Scaling down discards pixels, and a very large reduction in one step loses fine detail. Smoothing is set to the highest quality the browser offers, which helps, but an image reduced to a fraction of its size will always be softer than the original.

Should I crop or resize?

Resizing keeps the whole picture at different dimensions; cropping cuts part of it away. If you need a specific shape rather than a specific size, crop first with Image Cropper and then resize the result.

Does resizing keep my EXIF data?

No. The picture is redrawn through a canvas, which produces a new image without the original metadata. That removes GPS coordinates along with camera settings and the orientation flag.

What dimensions should I use for a profile picture?

Check the platform specification and enter it exactly rather than letting the site crop for you. A square is the usual requirement, so crop to 1:1 first and then resize to the pixel size asked for.
