Image Cropper

Drag a selection or type exact pixel coordinates, with free, 1:1, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2 and 9:16 ratio presets.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Free trial: 1 run of Image Cropper every day. After that, 2 credits per run.

Cut a region out of a picture, freehand or to a fixed ratio

Drag a selection over the image, or type exact X, Y, width and height values when precision matters. Ratio presets cover square, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 9:16 alongside a free mode. The drag and the number fields stay in sync, so you can rough it out with the mouse and then fine-tune the figures.

What Image Cropper gives you

Common ratio presets

Square for avatars, 16:9 for video thumbnails, 9:16 for stories, plus 4:3, 3:2 and free.

Drag or type

Pull a selection across the image, or enter exact coordinates and dimensions. Both stay in step.

Selection kept inside the image

Coordinates are held within the real bounds, so a crop cannot run off the edge and produce empty pixels.

Undo while you work

Step back through selections before exporting rather than reloading the picture and starting again.

Runs in your browser

The crop is performed on a canvas on your own device; the picture is never uploaded.

Questions about Image Cropper

Can I crop without a mouse?

Yes. Four numeric fields for X, Y, width and height stay in sync with the drag selection and work on their own.

How are fractional pixels handled?

The selection is rounded to whole pixels towards the nearest boundary before the crop is drawn.

How do I crop an image to a square for a profile picture?

Choose the 1:1 preset before dragging, and the selection stays square however you move it. That way the platform does not pick an awkward centre for you when it crops the picture itself.

Which ratio do I need for a video thumbnail or a story?

16:9 for a landscape video thumbnail and 9:16 for a vertical story or reel. Both are presets here, along with 4:3 and 3:2 for more traditional photo framing, and a free mode when nothing needs to match.

Can I crop to exact coordinates rather than by eye?

Yes. The X, Y, width and height fields accept exact numbers and stay in sync with the drag selection, so you can rough it out with the mouse and then correct the figures to match a specification.

Why is my selection rounded to whole numbers?

An image has no half pixel to cut at, so the selection snaps to whole pixels. A fractional value you type is rounded to the nearest boundary rather than being silently ignored.

Should I crop before or after resizing?

Crop first. That way you are only scaling the part you intend to keep, rather than resizing the whole picture and throwing some of it away afterwards.

Can this straighten a crooked photo?

No. Cropping removes area but does not rotate, so a picture a few degrees off cannot be levelled here. It also does not preserve metadata, since the cropped region is drawn as a new image.
