Why did my file get bigger after converting to PNG?
PNG is built for flat colour and sharp edges, not photographs. Converting a photo to PNG stores every pixel losslessly and usually produces a much larger file than the JPEG you started with.
Does the quality slider mean percentage of original quality?
No, and it is worth knowing. The value is passed straight to the encoder, so 0.8 does not mean "80% as good as the original" — it is a setting that trades detail against size in a way that varies by image.
Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?
Not here. HEIC, TIFF, SVG and animated formats are not supported. JPEG, PNG and WebP all work both as input and as output.
