Runs in your browser — nothing is uploadedFree trial: 1 run of Add PDF Watermark every day. After that, 2 credits per run.
Mark a PDF as draft, confidential or yours, with text or a logo
Stamp text or an image across the pages you choose, with control over opacity, angle, size, position and tiling. Text uses the three standard PDF fonts in any colour; images take a PNG or JPEG scaled to a percentage of page width. Be clear about what this is: a watermark is a visual mark, not a security control — anyone with editing software can remove it.
What Add PDF Watermark gives you
Text or image
Stamp words such as DRAFT, or embed a PNG or JPEG logo from five per cent of page width upwards.
Opacity and angle
Set opacity from five to a hundred per cent and rotate between minus ninety and plus ninety degrees.
Tiled or anchored
Place a single mark at one of nine positions, or tile it so it cannot be cropped out of a screenshot.
Applies to a page range
Watermark the whole document or only chosen pages, leaving a cover or appendix clean.
Images embedded as they are
A logo is placed without being downsampled or re-encoded, so a crisp mark stays crisp.

Questions about Add PDF Watermark
Can I tile the watermark?
Yes. Choose a single placement in one of nine positions, or a repeating tiled layout.
Is the watermark removable?
It is drawn into the page content, so it is not a separate layer, but it is not a security feature either.
How do I add a DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL watermark to a PDF?
Type the word, pick a font and colour, set the opacity and angle, and apply it to the pages you choose. Around twenty per cent opacity on a diagonal marks the page clearly while leaving the text underneath comfortable to read.
Does a watermark protect my document?
No, and it is important to be clear about that. It does not prevent copying, printing or editing, and anyone with a PDF editor can remove it. Treat it as a label that signals intent, not a lock that enforces it.
How do I stop someone cropping the watermark out?
Turn on tiling, which repeats the mark across the whole page instead of placing it once in the middle. A single centred watermark is easy to crop away from a screenshot; a tiled one is not.
Why will my logo not embed?
Two image encodings are not supported: progressive JPEG and 16-bit PNG. Re-save the file as a baseline JPEG or an 8-bit PNG and it will embed. Logos that do embed are placed at their original resolution, so a crisp mark stays crisp.
Can I watermark in a non-Latin script?
Not as text. Watermark text uses the standard PDF fonts, which cover Latin characters only, and anything else is refused rather than rendered incorrectly. The way round it is to set your wording as an image and use the image watermark instead.
Is a watermark the same as redaction?
No. Drawing over text leaves that text in the file, still selectable and searchable by anyone who opens it. A watermark changes how a page looks, not what it contains.
