HTML to DOCX

Turn pasted HTML or uploaded HTML files into genuine OOXML .docx documents, preserving headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and emphasis.

Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Free trial: 1 run of HTML to DOCX every day. After that, 2 credits per run.

Build a real Word document from HTML, not a renamed file

Paste HTML or load up to 20 files and get genuine Office Open XML .docx documents — the format Word itself writes, assembled block by block rather than wrapped around HTML. Headings, paragraphs, ordered and unordered lists with nesting, tables and inline formatting are carried across. The HTML is sanitised before parsing.

What HTML to DOCX gives you

Genuine OOXML output

The document is built from real Word structures, so it opens, edits and repaginates like any other .docx.

Structure carried across

Headings h1 to h6 map to Word heading levels, and lists keep their nesting up to four levels deep.

Tables and inline formatting

Tables with header cells come through, along with bold, italic, underline and code spans.

Batch conversion

Convert up to 20 files at 10 MB each, delivered as a ZIP when more than one succeeds.

Sanitised before parsing

Scripts, styles, frames, forms and remote images are stripped, so untrusted HTML is safe to convert.

  • External images and stylesheets are not fetched.

Questions about HTML to DOCX

Is this a real .docx?

Yes. It generates OOXML WordprocessingML, not HTML with a renamed extension.

Are images and external styles included?

Remote resources are not fetched. Content is sanitised first and external references are dropped.

Is the output a real Word document?

Yes. It is genuine Office Open XML assembled from real Word structures, not an HTML file given a .docx extension. It opens, edits and repaginates exactly like any document Word wrote itself.

Why has my CSS styling disappeared?

Structure is carried across, not styling. Word has its own block model with no equivalent for most CSS, so inline styles are deliberately stripped. Headings, lists, tables and inline formatting like bold and italic all survive.

Why are my images missing?

Images hosted elsewhere are dropped rather than fetched, which is what keeps converting untrusted HTML safe. Embed them as data URLs in the markup if you need them in the document.

It says there is nothing to convert. What does that mean?

Your HTML contained no headings, paragraphs, lists or tables to build from. Container elements like div and section are traversed but produce no output of their own, so markup made only of those has nothing the converter can use.

How do I get a table of contents in Word afterwards?

Use proper h1 to h6 tags rather than bold paragraphs. Real headings map to Word heading styles, which is what Word builds a table of contents from. Bold text styled to look like a heading will not work.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes, up to 20 files at 10 MB each. When more than one converts successfully they are delivered together as a ZIP rather than as separate downloads.
